2023 Hometown Heroes Bash
The Defending Heroes Project was proud and excited to have hosted the "2023 Hometown Heroes Bash" at the Owensboro Kentucky Convention Center on Saturday, June 3rd, from 7pm to 11pm. This AMAZING event was dedicated to supporting the Defending Heroes Project, a 501(c) registered U.S. non-profit organization that provided assistance to First Responders and Veterans in their times of need.
We were honored to have had American Hero Retired US Army Ranger Sergeant First Class Michael Schlitz as our guest speaker, making it an unforgettable evening!
Tickets were limited, and the Owensboro area witnessed an unprecedented event. Attendees enjoyed an incredible BBQ "All you can Eat" buffet featuring BBQ Smoked Brisket, Grilled Chicken, Parmesan Chive Roasted Potatoes, and more. Unlimited beer and a cash bar were available.
The event also featured an extraordinary Live Auction, showcasing one-of-a-kind autographed memorabilia from nationally known athletes, worldwide vacation packages, jewelry, and other captivating items. Additionally, a HUGE Silent Auction captivated attendees with wall art, women's designer jewelry, memorabilia, and much more.

2022 Support Our Hero Fundraiser
Thank you for helping support our hero, Officer Janna Gatten, with us!
After many weeks of planning and working on this fundraising event, it has finally come to a close with an amazing event on 10/16/22 to Support Our Hero. This is where we, Defending Heroes Project, Inc., would like to take the time to properly show our appreciation to guests and businesses for your generous support and donations to the event to help a hero!
The community really showed up to support Officer Janna Gatten! They enjoyed the delicious Tacoholics food, amazing Boucherie wine & drinks, and the very talented Dave Lutz band at our event. There were also so many great items donated by our amazing community auctioned off by Kevin Herron. On top of supporting our event, you helped us go above and beyond to help Janna! 100% of the donations went to our hero, Janna Gatten, to help ease the burdens of the medical bills and expenses incurred as she battles colon cancer! Officer Gatten is forever grateful, as am I!
